Marti Productions presenta “Cecilia Valdés” de Gonzalo Roig en Concierto

Cuban zarzuela Cecilia Valdes composed by Gonzalo Roig based on novel by Cirilo Villaverde.It is a work of importance for its quality, and its revelation of the interaction of classes and races in Havana, Cuba. The story takes place in colonial Cuba around 1830. The young and beautiful woman of mixed race, Cecilia Valdés, is the illegitimate daughter of powerful land magnate and slave trader, Cándido de Gamboa. Leonardo de Gamboa is his legitimate son who falls in love with Cecilia, not realizing that she is his own half-sister, and they become lovers. At the same time, a poor black musician, José Dolores Pimienta, is also hopelessly in love with Cecilia. Cecilia rejects Pimenta's advances and conceives Leonardo's son.

FIU Jazz Vocal Ensemble

Join us for a fabulous evening of cabaret by FIU jazz vocalists and rhythm section! The Jazz Vocal Ensemble is directed by Dr. Lisanne Lyons and consists of twelve to fifteen vocalists and a four-piece rhythm section who perform a varied and challenging repertoire of jazz and jazz-influenced music, as well as contemporary, Latin, and a cappella styles.

The technical prowess of the Amernet meets the experimental music of innovative Swiss composer, Jessie Cox, for the festival's closing concert. They will be joined by New World Symphonys' Dean of Instrumental Performance, Michael Linville, for what will be an incredible evening of talent.

North Beach Social: Paula Arenas Presented by Rhythm Foundation

Paula Arenas is a Colombian singer-songwriter whose captivating voice and songwriting talent have made her a force to be reckoned with in Latin pop music, with several Grammy and Latin Grammy nominations. In 2021, her album “Mis Amores” earned her a Grammy nomination in the Best Latin Pop Album category as well as 3 of the 4 major categories at the Latin Grammys: Song of the Year, Record of the Year and Album of the Year. Her most recent single “A Ciegas” serves as the title track for her upcoming studio album, which will include collaborations with Manuel Medrano and Jesús Navarro, lead vocalist of Reik. Closing the night will be local outfit Hunters of the Alps, the solo project of Lima-born, Miami-based musician and songwriter, Mario Giancarlo. Expect a blend of indie pop and new wave hooks with elements of Spanish and Latin American inspired arrangements. The event is co-hosted by Escala Sonora, a Miami-based event series that aims to blend a love for indie/alternative music with a passion for supporting rising artists in the Latin music scene. Karl Denson's Tiny Universe at Hollywood ArtsPark Experience Presented by Rhythm Foundation

Bring a lawn chair or blanket to enjoy this show at the beautiful Hollywood ArtsPark in downtown Hollywood! (Larkin Poe, originally scheduled for this date, has cancelled because of schedule conflicts) In 2023, Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe celebrate their 25th anniversary as a band, a quarter-century at the heart of a Who's Who in rock, funk, soul and good times. KDTU has electrified audiences worldwide, joining stages with artists including the Dave Matthews Band and The Godfather of Soul, James Brown. From performing as Sexual Chocolate (yes, the Coming To America band) at the Outside Lands Music festival in San Francisco, to being the first late night act at the inaugural Bonnaroo festival, KDTU remain a dominating force in music. All-night, sold-out concerts during Jazzfest in New Orleans have featured sit ins by everyone from Lenny Kravitz and Steve Winwood (with whom Karl has recorded and toured) to avant garde luminaries. Not to mention Karl’s stint in The Rolling Stones, when he replaced the great Bobby Keys as saxophonist in 2014. Touring the country with the Allman Brothers, My Morning Jacket, D'Angelo, The Roots, Public Enemy, Bob Weir of The Grateful Dead, Parliament Funkadelic, Slightly Stoopid, Widespread Panic, very few concert goers have been untouched by the Tiny Universe live. In addition to KDTU, Karl Denson aka “Diesel” is a founding member of the seminal groove act The Greyboy Allstars. Opening set by bluesman Uncle Scotchy.
