An Evening of Ukrainian and Polish Song Presented by Frost School of Music and Chopin Foundation

Olga Pasichnyk, soprano Ewa Pobłocka, piano Kevin Kenner, piano Malvyn Lai, piano Katherine Liu, piano Saaya Hara, piano Join us for an evening of song with Ukrainian-Polish soprano Olga Pasichnyk, winner of the Queen Elisabeth International Competition in Brussels accompanied by pianists Kevin Kenner and Ewa Pobłocka in a selection of works by Ukrainian composers, Chopin and Poland’s operatic master Stanisław Moniuszko. We will also highlight some of our talented academy students, American pianist Malvyn Lai and Katherine Liu, who are scholarship recipients of the Chopin Foundation of the U.S., and pianist Saaya Hara, who has traveled all the way from Japan. She was a semifinalist at the XVIII International Chopin Competition in Warsaw.

Opening Concert: Celebrating the Live Return of Chopin’s Music and More Presented by Frost School of Music and Chopin Foundation

The 4th Annual Frost Chopin Festival celebrates its live return with an amazing lineup of two stellar pianists: 18-year-old J J Jun Li Bui, who won 6th prize at the XVIII International Chopin Competition in Warsaw last year, as well as the eminent Polish pianist Ewa Pobłocka, prize winner of the X International Chopin Competition. A specialist in the music of Chopin and J. S. Bach, Pobłocka recently recorded all of Bach’s Well-Tempered Clavier, and will open our festival performing some of his most magnificent keyboard works. The concert opens with J J Jun Li Bui’s renditions of works by Chopin, Debussy, and Stravinsky. Miami’s beloved musicologist Dr. Frank Cooper joins us again this year to introduce the concert program.

CMN Artist Series II Presents - Toccatas & Danzas: An Evening with Ana Rodriguez

Pianist and composer, Ana Rodriguez, performs an hour piano recital of toccatas and danzas. The performance features modern and contemporary works by the following local and international composers: Aurelia de la Vega, Alicia Terzian, Alexis Aranda, Radames Gnattali, Ferdinando De Sena, Miguel A. Little Havana Social Club: Ritmos Latinos Presented by The Koubek Center

Little Havana Social Club presents Colombian percussionist, composer, singer, producer and arranger Humberto Ibarra y su Cumbia Mayor; the Colombian dance group from the Organización Cultural y Folclórica Puerta de Oro; and Los Pascual, a Dominican group, exponents of traditional merengue and bachata led by brothers Reylin and Oniver Pascual, with Venezuelan producer Mr. Pauer as DJ and emcee. Little Havana Social Club, a signature program of the Koubek Center, evokes the sounds and spirit of the fiesta de barrio with a contemporary Miami touch. Eclectic and cosmopolitan but rooted in tradition, this concert series celebrates a historic neighborhood while aiming to bring together a multi-generational audience from different backgrounds. Ritmos Latinos, the next installment of Little Havana Social Club, will focus on the music and dance of Colombia and the Dominican Republic, showcasing a strong lineup of Miami-based artists.
