Tagline: It started as a Pulitzer prize winning play, later became an academy award winning movie, and finally was transformed into a modern masterpiece of an opera by conductor and composer Andre Previn. Synopsis: “Stella! Stella!”… The first thing that comes to mind when you hear the title A Streetcar Named Desire. However, rest assured that André Previn’s operatic adaptation of Tennessee Williams’ famous play will leave with you with so much more. The opera follows the downward spiral of former southern belle Blanche Dubois, who after having experienced a series of personal losses, leaves behind her wealth and privilege and moves into a run-down apartment with her sister and brother-in-law. Filled with soaring melodies and an orchestral score that puts you right in the middle of New Orleans during a hot summer, A Streetcar Named Desire is a contemporary verismo masterpiece.

The Last Hundred Ensemble welcomes guitarist Geralado Neto to Miami. About this event Born in 1995, Geraldo Costa Neto is a Brazilian guitarist based in Lexington, Kentucky. He holds an undergraduate degree from the Universidade Federal de São João del Rei, where he studied with Dr. Guilherme Vincens, as also, a master’s degree from the University of Kentucky, under the tutelage of Dr. Dieter Hennings. Geraldo has received several awards during his career, he was a finalist at the “II Festival de Violão de Teresina”, prize winner of the multi-instrumental competitions “Segunda Musical” and “Jovem Músico BDMG” in the year of 2017, as also placed 2nd in the solo guitar competitions “XII Concurso de Violão FITO”, “XXI Concurso Nacional de Violão Musicalis”, “XXVIII Concurso de Violão Souza Lima”. An advocate of chamber music, Geraldo is a member of the UK Guitar Trio, a group which is complemented by Felipe Magdaleno and Dieter Hennings. The trio made its debut at the “V Festival de Violão de Passo Fundo”, in Brazil. Geraldo has been working under the supervision of Dr. Hennings as a teaching assistant since the beginning of his graduate studies at UKY, where he is currently a DMA candidate. He is a strong supporter of new music written for guitar as well as an enthusiast of Latin American music, which plays an inherent part of his identity as an artist. If you are looking for a family-friendly, holiday pops concert featuring favorites like White Christmas, Deck the Halls, Edelweiss from The Sound of Music, and the Dreidel Song, as well as our annual sing-a-long, then join us on Saturday, December 4th at the FGO Doral Opera Center in Miami as our Studio Artists present our annual Holiday Pops concert. Featuring a dynamic collaboration with singer-songwriter Masego plus a multimedia work by Chris Rogerson and National Geographic photographer Keith Ladzinski, the orchestra will explore the many beautiful ways that music imitates and embodies our lives and environment. The performance will also include symphonic reimaginations of the music by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky and Ray Charles. There will be an opportunity to ask the orchestra questions during a Q&A session at the end! A digital program and concert quiz will be emailed prior to the concert. RAVEL Pictures at an Exhibition Experience an immersive evening of music and art at this Art Week 2021 capstone event. Composed in 1874 and orchestrated by Maurice Ravel in 1922, Pictures at an Exhibition was inspired by a posthumous show of more than 400 paintings and drawings by Modest Mussorgsky’s close friend, architect and artist Viktor Hartmann, who died in 1873.

Orchestra Miami presents the ultimate New Year’s Eve Celebration- an unforgettable, family-friendly, beachfront concert of Beethoven’s iconic Symphony N. 9 (Ode to Joy), performed by Miami’s premiere professional orchestra, Orchestra Miami, led by Miami native and Artistic Director Elaine Rinaldi with an all-star line-up of soloists. Cuban-American poet and Obama inaugural poet Richard Blanco has crafted a bilingual translation of Schiller’s poem, which will be sung by a 60-voice community choir accompanied by the orchestra. The performance ends with fireworks sponsored by the City of Miami Beach.

Orchestra Miami presents A Holiday Pops Extravaganza, a holiday celebration like no other! Enjoy this side-by-side concert with exceptional students from the Miami Art Studio 6-12 at Zelda Glazer, Vivian Gonzalez, Director, and students from the New World School for the Arts Jazz Ensemble, James Gasior, Director performing alongside the professionals from Orchestra Miami, led by Artistic Director Elaine Rinaldi. Celebrate the Season with holiday favorites from the Trans-Siberian Orchestra, revel in traditional tunes from Merry Olde England and sing along to your favorite holiday tunes! This festive concert will last approximately 1 hour; Recommended for ages three and up. Juice & cookies served after the performance!

Orchestra Miami presents Vivaldi's Ring of Mystery, a theatrical concert about the life and music of Italian composer Antonio Vivaldi. Vivaldi's Ring of Mystery a compelling mystery about an orphan girl in the early 1700s who is in search of her roots. A central clue to the mystery is a missing Stradivarius violin that the Duke of Cremona has brought to Vivaldi’s school of the Pietá in the hopes of finding his long- lost grandchild. Orchestra Miami, led by Artistic Director Elaine Rinaldi perform this intriguing tale which features more than 25 excerpts from Vivaldi’s most popular works, including the Four Seasons, the Violin Concerto in A minor, and the Guitar Concerto. The music is magically woven into the drama as two actors solve a mystery built around the historic context of the composer’s real life and his school of the Pietá. Vivaldi’s Ring of Mystery is "an imaginative way to introduce young audiences and their families to the life and music of Antonio Vivaldi in a live performance venue." The show stars Randy Garcia as Vivaldi/Giovanni and Raquel Lebish as Katarina, with stage direction by Ricky J. Martinez. This exciting concert and story performance is approximately 50 minutes; Recommended for age six and up. Juice & cookies served after the performance!
