Singer and songwriter Leslie Cartaya, the Celia Cruz All Stars, a repertory band that celebrates the legacy of the immortal Cuban singer and Latin Grammy nominee DJ and producer Mr. Pauer, bring the party again as they headline the next Little Havana Social Club of the Miami Dade College’s (MDC) Koubek Center.

Join us for a magical night of live music with Brenda Alford and her Quintet at the Sandrell Rivers Theater! Ms. Alford is joined in this concert by Venezuelan pianist and album producer, Antulio Mora, the renowned bassist, Paul Shewchuk, the brilliant drummer, J.D. Anderson, and the great Jesse Jones, Jr. on saxophone. The Brenda Alford Quintet will have you tapping your toes to the swinging rhythms of some of the greatest jazz standards from her mentors and idols, Ella Fitzgerald, Carmen McRae, and Billie Holliday. You’ll hear the soulful jazz side of Aretha Franklin as well as some of the unique arrangements that were created by and for Brenda-- a real testament to her artistry. Beethoven’s majestic compositional output did not only open the door to the romanticism of the 19th century, but rather, has continuously exerted its universal influence on every generation of composers to follow, leading into the present day. This program will feature Beethoven’s piano sonata Op. 101 - a magnificent manifestation of his trailblazing late style - and three works that pay homage to Beethoven in unique ways: the ‘Concord’ Sonata by the great American master of the 20th century, Charles Ives; Ten Bagatelles for piano by Jonathan Dawe, hailed as “one of our most talented and distinctive...contemporary composers” (Seen and Heard International); and No. V: Three Bagatelles by Clarence Barlow, internationally esteemed pioneer of electroacoustic and computer music known for his wide-ranging musical vocabulary and interdisciplinary compositional approach that unites mathematics, computer science, visual art, and literature. About pianist Reed Tetzloff: “A musician of great authority.” – Richard Goode American pianist Reed Tetzloff, one of the brightest stars of a new generation of musicians, enthralls audiences with his “magical tone” (The Cincinnati Enquirer) and “ebullient” virtuosity (Gramophone Magazine). In the XV International Tchaikovsky Competition, the Russian media compared his performances to those of Van Cliburn and dubbed him “the lyric hero of the competition” (Julia Bederova, Snob [Сноб] Magazine). Tetzloff has performed multiple tours in Europe, Asia, and the United States, and made his Lincoln Center concerto debut at Alice Tully Hall, and his New York solo recital debut at Merkin Hall. Opera is Here brings together seasoned and budding singers in a double bill that includes Mozart’s delightful opera Bastien und Bastienne in the voices of young singers 11-17 years old, as well a program of selections with seasoned teachers. The cast of Bastien un Bastienne includes Darlen Maceo (Bastienne), Silvio Plata (Bastien), Alan Izquierdo (Colas), Leyanelis Díaz, Avril Valle and María Emilia Perozo as Bastienne’s friends, and César Castillo as Bastien’s friend and confidant. The second part of the program offers a selection of Great Opera and Zarzuela Moments featuring a cast of experienced local and out of town singers. The artists are: Kiley Hernandez, Lucia Panizza, Carlos Jimeno, Eduardo Calcaño, and Jorge Arcila, accompanied by Daniel Daroca, with visuals by Jacqueline Solorzano and Xiomara Ponce, and concept by The Opera Atelier. Point of Convergence – A Musical and Dance Voyage developed by Arsenio Diaz – is a program that recognizes and respects cultural differences by promoting the understanding of ethnic heritage through music and dance. The main purpose of this program is to bring awareness about the need to preserve heritage, traditions, and culture. The performance features the use of ethnic instruments such as the Sitar, Tabla drums, Bata drums, and Suona horn (to name a few) to highlight the mesmerizing and skillful Afro-Cuban and Indian dances. This multi-disciplinary show is a journey through music and dance that starts with traditional and ceremonial pieces of each of these differing cultures, eventually joining one another on stage to show us the points of similarities these two seemingly differing cultures actually hold. We therefore hope to present an original, didactic, and exceptional performance that will be fascinating, educational, and accessible to our community. The approach to this project is rooted on the conversion of ethnicities and the celebration of multiculturalism and will be performed by artists from our local community – artists with an Indo-American and Afro-Latin heritage. The skills, experience, and expertise of the performers, along with the ravishing sonorities and dances, will delight and awe the audience with a performance that embodies the heritage, traditions, and culture of many of our communities in the South Florida area. Featured Artists – Arsenio Diaz, Michael Gil, Marisol Blanco, Aparna Matange, Manuel Clua, Sudhir Limaye, Eduardo Rodriguez.

The Temple Emanu-El Cultural Arts Center and Miami Beach Music Festival Orchestra will present Console the Soul, an interfaith musical gathering in support of the victims and families of the Surfside condominium collapse. The evening will consist of soothing orchestral and vocal classical music, under the direction of Michael Rossi, interlaced with inspirational texts from our religious community leaders including Rabbi Marc Philippe (Rabbi of Temple Emanu-El), Reverend Juan J. Sosa (Pastor of St. Joseph Church Miami Beach), Rabbi Fred Klein (Greater Miami Jewish Federation), and Timothy P. Carr (All Souls' Episcopal Church). During the gathering, monetary donations will be collected to provide relief to the victims and families of the Surfside tragedy through the Greater Miami Jewish Federation. Federation together with its partners — Jewish Community Services of South Florida (JCS) and Mishkan Miami: The Jewish Connection for Spiritual Support — is providing financial assistance, chaplaincy support, crisis counseling, and social services to people impacted by the tragedy. Please do not bring any physical goods. The Surfside tragedy has affected the community at large, our hope is to offer a musical and spiritual balm to bring Light and blessings into our lives. In AYITI: Stories & Songs From Haiti, she celebrates Ayisyen (Haitian) art and culture through energetic drumming and singing, colorful costumes and traditional dances, folktales and visual art. Songs and phrases in Kreyòl Ayisyen (Haitian Creole), explore themes of community and gratitude.
