Kaleidoscope MusArt is thrilled to present violinist and composer Gregory Walker and pianist Redi Llupa in “Tracing Legacies” - a chamber music program that will explore cultural and familial legacies through sonatas for violin and piano by Johannes Brahms, George Walker, and his son Gregory Walker. The program will be presented online, via the Demio platform on Saturday, May 22 at 5:00 p.m. EST. The concert will conclude with a Q&A session with the artists. Registration is free but required. Time Fragments Presented by Kaleidoscope MusArt

Kaleidoscope MusArt is thrilled to present Duo Chromatica (Mia Detwiler, violin; Ted Powell, piano) in Time Fragments - an online concert of music for violin and piano featuring the world premiere of “Picking up where I left off” by Jeffrey Niederhoffer alongside works by Ermir Bejo, John Cage, David Martynuik, Jeffrey Mumford, and Kaija Saariaho. Founded in 2017, Duo Chromatica has been a strong advocate for 20th and 21st century music, having collaborated with the International Contemporary Ensemble and performed at numerous festivals, including the 40th anniversary of the Foro Internacional de Música Nueva - the largest contemporary music festival in the Americas. Featuring works written within the last 8 decades, the Time Fragments program explores a broad spectrum of contemporaneous yet wildly varied musical aesthetic. The concert will conclude with a live Q&A session with the performers and composers. Registration for the event is free. Donations of any amount are welcomed and greatly appreciated. Nu Deco NXT program - Spring Break Intensive

Nu Deco NXT is a youth ensemble for 7th-12th grade students that applies the Nu Deco model of combining the traditional orchestral instruments (Strings, Winds, Brass, Percussion) with a full rhythm section (guitars, drums, keys) and performing works by living composers, rearranging works by innovative artists, and exploring improvisation and musical creation.

Nu Deco is currently accepting musicians in 7th – 12th grade to participate in the Nu Deco NXT Spring Break Intensive (March 28 – April 3) taking place at the Adrienne Arsht Center.

Nu Deco Imagination: Musical Inspirations

Join Nu Deco Ensemble for our next interactive performance for K-12 students, LIVE from the North Beach Bandshell! This performance will explore how composers often draw inspiration from the world around them in creating their compositions. Featuring the music of Leonard Bernstein, Valerie Coleman, Nina Simone, Anemoia, and symphonic reimaginations of the music of Earth, Wind & Fire. There will also be an opportunity to ask the orchestra questions during a Q&A session at the end – we look forward to seeing you online!

The Art of the Countertenor : Key'mon Murrah Presented by Florida Grand Opera

The Art of the Countertenor Studio member Key’mon Murrah, countertenor Sophisticated and beautiful sacred music to dramatic and virtuosic opera arias, the countertenor voice is a unique male voice whose vocal range is that of a female contralto or mezzo-soprano. This concert will feature music representing the rich history of this voice type, featuring the music of Handel, Bach, and Vivaldi.

The NYC-based Unheard-of // Ensemble (Ford Fourqurean-clarinet; Matheus Souza-violin; Issei Herr-cello; Daniel Anastasio-piano), described as “a group that has been doing more than their part to inject vitality into the new music scene for the last few years” (Jeremy Shatan, An Earful), will perform Olivier Messiaen’s cathartic “Quartet for the End of Time,” written in 1941 in captivity at a German prisoner-of-war camp, along with works by two award-winning living composers: Liliya Ugay and Morgan Reed Greenwood. A live Q&A with performers and composers will conclude the program. Ancient Arias from the New World Presented by Encantus Music

With the support of the Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs and the Cultural Affairs Council, the Miami-Dade County Mayor and Board of County Commissioners, Miami Saloon Group Inc, Corpus Christi Catholic Church, Colonial Florida Cultural Heritage Center, and Grove Wealth Management, Encantus Music presents this unique concert "Ancient Arias from the New World". An investigative work by Juan Francisco Sans based on baroque arias composed during the XVII | XVIII | XIX Centuries from cathedrals of Colonial Latin America (Colombia, Cuba, Guatemala, Mexico, Perú, and Venezuela). Encantus Voices will perform a series of Arias of the New World and selected instrumental works with special guests: Sopranos Elizabeth Quintanales and Samia Ibrahim Mezzo Adriana Portales Tenor Carlos Rafael Silva Bass Diego Froget Piano Clara Marcano and Marcela Martinez Recorder Maria Esther Jiménez Capriles Cello German Marcano Conducted by Maibel Troia Due to the ongoing COVID-19 crisis, health and safety mandates from the State of Florida are in place, to keep protocols to safely welcome all guests to Chapel La Merced it has a capacity restriction and to ensure social distancing requirements, the entrance it will be free and limited, and all guests must wear facial masks.
